KNOW YOUR VALUE. It’s a simple and sometimes overused adage.

Though, it is important to consider.

I was recently reminded of this concept when on a job search. Interviewers ask a lot of questions about yourself and how you work. I encountered deceptively simple questions like, tell us about yourself, with less time than it takes to settle into your seat.

The question of value invariably arises – what value are you, to us?

Lacking any standardized means of quantifying it, we must define our value ourselves. Think it through carefully – that new job depends on it.

What is my professional value?

I’m committed to honest work in difficult parts of the world.

It seems there is a market for that. At least for now.
